Using Photoshop
I started by cutting out the first image by using the quick select tool. This seemed like the easiest way to just select the feathers. Before moving them over to a new page I had to ctrl click then select inverse to pick up and move the feathers.
I started to build up and layer the image till I ended up with a background to work on. at this point I didn't want the white so I put on two gradients that contrasted with each other. Then cut out the shoes in the same way that I did with the feathers and added a new layer for them.
I was happy with all the layers at this point but not with the order that they were in. The shoes look to much on top of everything. So I changed the layers around until I was happy with how it looked. I was most happy with the feathers overlapping the shoes.
